NAME: Sabitsuki
CANON: .flow
CANON REFERENCE: here!
AGE: ~16.
GENDER: Female.
YEAR IN SCHOOL: Sophomore? HS 2? However you say it, haha.;;
APPEARANCE: Here, from the creator's pixiv.
PERSONALITY:
For a young lady, Sabitsuki is probably unlike most you've ever met; she's extremely crass and sarcastic, cracking horrible jokes and slinging terrible insults without being provoked in the slightest. She minds her manners extremely rarely, even when talking to adults - she's more prone to call a teacher by their first name if she knows it, and if she doesn't she'll probably give them a rude nickname instead. This is just thanks to the way she's lived her childhood, of course; alone and ignored in the slums for most of her childhood, she's just grown accustomed to living a rebellious life. And so Sabitsuki's grown to be the rude, crude, young lady that she is. Her humor's not that nice, either - her jokes tend to be highly tasteless and insensitive, mostly involving dark or "dead baby" humor, or involving insults and involving something someone is extremely embarrassed/ashamed of. She's not above using horrible language in everyday life, either, so it's easy to expect lots of cuss words dropped in a normal sentence. Sabitsuki's also not the nicest when you first meet her - she's cold and mean and doesn't enjoy meeting new faces unless they interest her somehow. Otherwise, they're more likely to get insulted and snubbed.
Sabitsuki rather enjoys trolling and messing with people, too - she's prone to mentally run circles around people if she can find a way to, likely leaving them confused and unsure how to deal with her. This is usually done to her advantage, of course; if she get someone weirded out or confused enough, they're more likely to leave her alone - she prefers her solitude and actually cherishes it above all else. Even her brother and nanny she needs to see in small doses, or she'l get sick of their company. It's because after being sent away from her family in the slums, she'd become a shut in - not even leaving her bedroom unless she really needs to. To go along with this, she's also a little socially awkward when she needs to actually be nice and work with people, because no one's really stopped to teach her how; everything she knows she learned from the worst of the slums, the dankass hospital, and from terrible cartoons during her years as a shut in. Her nanny loves her and all, but she didn't want to deal with Sabitsuki too much, due to being frightened of mutants and scared of catching her illness, despite it being nontransmissable.
Deep inside her, though, she's not as confident as she seems; Sabitsuki hates herself the most out of everything, and it always eats at her. She absolutely hates thinking about herself, talking about herself, even looking at herself. It's one of the reasons she's become a shut-in, in fact - she's been lead to believe that she's worth this hatred, and that people shouldn't have to deal with her. When she's alone, she's prone to highly depressing thoughts, and she tends to let them fester. So far, the only person who can manage to make her even consider thinking better about herself is her brother; it's extremely difficult to get through to her about herself and her self esteem. Unfotunately for... just about everyone else, too, Sabitsuki's anger is... extremely violent and volatile. She's more likely to throw things and hit things when angry than sit and talk it out - in fact, trying to get her to stop and talk makes her even angrier! It's because, to be frank, she's not exactly the most stable; kind of runs in the family and all. She'd rather see blood spilled when she's mad, and it's just easier to lock her in her room and wait for her to calm down, though it takes a while.
... However, even though she sounds like a horrible person and one that should... probably be left alone all her life, she's still worth befriending due to her loyalty to people she really cares about. Not only that, but Sabitsuki actually does have a sweet side! When it comes to her older brother, her nanny, and possibly close friends, she's more likely to laugh and joke with them in a friendly manner - though none of them are immune from her taunting. Even though they may end up targets when she's angered as well, she's less likely to do anything harmful to them than she is others (and inanimate objects, of course). She'll do anything for the few people she lets into her life, simply because of how few there are she's okay with. Making new friends after losing the old is something she never wants to need to do.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Sabitsuki's power is... a little hard to explain, but I'm gonna try my best!
She's able to, after locking eyes with someone for a moment or two, basically "wander" around their psyche - mindscape, I guess, a la Yume Nikki but with less sleeping and more psychic powers - and figure things out about people that way.Though, a la Yume Nikki, everything in those "mindscapes" is extremely vague. For example, Sabitsuki's a fan of techno music, and that manifests itself as a large, black looping world of neon people, djs, and beeping floor tiles. Her memories of the hospital manifests as a huge maze of white halls, blood spatters, and the faint sound of a heart monitor in the background. So really, it's up to her to guess what it all means... but by now she's probably rather good at it.
The side effect that she can't control, though, is her powers kind of alter what others' minds see her as - basically, whatever image their eyes send to their brain, her power twists without her control. You could be talking to her, and suddenly she's a cat, or she's gored through with a sword, or she's half plant.
There's set ones though, based off of her canon Effects.
People unaffected by psychic abilities are unaffected by all of this - she can't see their mindscapes, and they won't be effect by her powers' side effect.
AU HISTORY:
Sabitsuki was born to a pretty anti-mutant area; a red eyed, white haired girl born to a traditionally Asian family, causing her to quickly be shunned from birth. They named her what they did, Sabitsuki meaning covered in rust, due to her rusty red eyes; they felt it was rather fitting, at least, since she's not a "normal" child in their eyes. From then on, she had essentially been dumped off on the family nanny for years, until her illness started to show up around the age of seven, and of course none of the good hospitals would take her due to her mutation. She ended up being shipped off to a nearby children's "hospital" - if it could even be called that - in the slums, one known for high mortality and malpractice, but it was the only one that would take mutants.
A few months later, and she'd been sent back out with the misdiagnosis of "asthma".
Unfortunately for the young girl, that was when her true powers started to crop up - the side effects of which altering the minds and the way the people around her see her. Not wanting to deal with her illness anymore (causing it to go untreated from then on), and frightened by her powers' side effect, her parents took Sabitsuki and her nanny and sent them off to a different part of Japan to live - as far from them as possible. The children there wouldn't accept her either, and the adults were cruel... her nanny decided to homeschool her, which only enabled Sabitsuki to become a shut-in over the years.
Around the time her brother's own powers began to manifest, however, her nanny heard of Xavier's institute over in the United States; a place where mutants like Sabitsuki were accepted and taken care of, unlike where they lived then. It took all the money she had, but she managed to send Sabitsukiand her brother if he gets accepted along with Sabitsuki to the institute for a better life - or what's left of it, in Sabitsuki's case; having gone untreated for so long, her illness is now terminal; though only Sabitsuki really realizes it. And she'll never say a word.
